Jerzy Wcisła

Born on 9th November 1958 in Grodziczyn.
Graduated in political sciences from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Gdańsk and in catholic social doctrine of the Gdańsk Theological Institute, Branch of the Catholic University of Lublin in 2012.
1979−1991 − worked as a mechanic, technical manager and deputy director of Spółdzielnia Transportu Samochodowego (a road transport cooperative group) in Nowy Dwór Gdański. Started working as a journalist and became the owner and
editor-in-chief of the “Gazeta Żuławska” newspaper in that town in 1991.

1997−2000 – the editor-in-chief of the “Gazeta Elbląska” newspaper in Elbląg.

2001−2006 – the director of the office of the Sejm deputy Stanisław Gorczyca. 2007−2015 – the director of the Elbląg Regional Office of the Marshal’s Office of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Province in Olsztyn. Served as a Marshal’s representative to the consortium for the construction of a canal linking the Vistula Lagoon and Gdańsk Bay, the chairman of the Revitalisation of the International Seaway E 70 Team (MDW), a member of the steering committee of the “Pętla Żuławska” project, a deputy chairman of the Lower Vistula Water Management Regional Council, a member of the Council for Promotion of Inland Waterway Transport at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development and a member of the MDW E 40 revitalisation team in Poland during this period.
Member (2002−2015), chairman (2010−2013) and deputy chairman (2007−2010, 2014−2015) of Elbląg City Council.
Co-founding member of “Klub Nowodworski” Żuławy Society of Friends, member of “Bursztynowe Wybrzeże” Association, member of the Management Board of SEKA Authors Club in Elbląg and chairman of “Kraina Zalewu Wiślanego” Tourism
Organisation.
Member of Civic Platform Party of Poland, serves as the chairman of the District Board of this party in Elbląg.
Married, has two children.
