Born on 18th March 1974 in Szczecin.
Graduated from the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Szczecin (major: political sciences) in 2000.
1994−1995 − technical worker at the Zakłady Graficzne “Kema” (a printing plant) in Szczecin. 1998−1999 – the promotion manager in “Reemtsma Polska” company.
1999–2001 – the secretary of the provincial parliamentary and local government office of the Democratic Left Alliance; 2002−2004 – an adviser to the governor of the Zachodniopomorskie Province.
2002−2004 – a member of Szczecin City Council.
2010−2011 – a member of the National Security Council.
Member of the Administration and Internal Affairs Committee, the Local Government and Regional Policy Committee and the Committee for Equal Status of Women and Men in the Fourth Term Sejm; member of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Fifth Term Sejm. Chairman of the Innovativeness and New Technologies Committee, member of the Culture and Media Committee and of the National and Ethnic Minorities Committee in the Sixth Term Sejm. Former chairman of the  Parliamentary Club of the Democratic Left Alliance. Deputy chairman of the Innovativeness and New Technologies Committee and member of the European Union Affairs Committee in the Seventh Term Sejm.
1999−2015 – a member of the Democratic Left Alliance, serving, among others, as its chairman (2008–2011).
Has no political party affiliation.
Married, has two children.
