Born on 29th October 1947 in Polanica-Zdrój.
Graduated from the Faculty of Acting of the State Drama School in Cracow in 1969.
1969−1970 – an actor of Teatr Rozmaitości (theatre) in Cracow; 1970–1971 − an actor of Teatr Polski in Szczecin; 1971–1989 – an actor of Teatr Stary (at present Narodowy Stary Teatr im. Heleny Modrzejewskiej) in Cracow. 1989–2012 – the  director of Teatr Ludowy in Cracow. 1986–1989 – a lecturer at the Academy of Music in Cracow. 1990–1991 – a director of the Department of Culture at Cracow City Council.
1994−1998 – a member of Cracow City Council; 1998–2005 – a deputy to Małopolskie Provincial Parliament.
Awarded with many artistic and cultural awards.
Member of the Education, Science and Youth Committee, the Culture and Media Committee and the Social Policy Committee in the Fifth Term Sejm. Deputy chairman of the Culture and Media Committee and member of the Committee on Liaison with Poles Abroad in the Sixth and Seventh Term Sejm.
Member of the Civic Platform Party of Poland.
Married, has two children.
